It has been over a year and a half since Canada passed legislation on Medical Assistance in Dying (M.A.I.D.).  In November 2016, Access Alliance Language Services partnered with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre to develop and deliver training for interpreters for this specialized area of care.  As we look to further develop the training and resource materials, we would like to hear from interpreters across the city, province, and country to learn more about the experiences and challenges they may have faced while interpreting for M.A.I.D. related encounters.  Our learnings will be shared with other  organizations committed to quality interpreting and equitable access to quality care.  We will welcome any comments that may also inform how agencies handle/process requests, and how healthcare providers can work more effectively with interpreters before, during, and after M.A.I.D.-related encounters.
