Statewide Opinion Survey about Proposed Amendments to Commissioner’s Regulation 90.2 - Minimum Standards for Public and Association Libraries in New York State |

The New York State Library is conducting this online opinion survey to gather informal feedback from the library community about proposed amendments to Commissioner’s Regulation 90.2. Library trustees, staff, friends and others are encouraged to review the proposed changes posted at http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/libdev/excerpts/finished_regs/902-revision.htm#revision902, prior to completing the online survey. Please note that the underlined text highlighted in turquoise is new. Bracketed text highlighted in [yellow] will be deleted.
Please submit this survey no later than Monday December 18, 2017.
A copy of the entire survey may be accessed and printed from http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/libdev/excerpts/finished_regs/902-revision.htm#revision902 . It is estimated that it will take 15 minutes to review the proposed changes and complete the entire survey.
The State Library, PULISDO (the Public Library System Directors Organization), the New York Library Association and the Library Trustees Association of New York State worked in partnership to develop these proposed amendments. Over a two-year period, PULISDO leadership engaged in background research and led discussions with key stakeholders about proposed changes to minimum standards for public libraries. Public library systems shared draft language with local libraries to gather input. The most recent round of feedback occurred during September 2017 when the State Library invited the 756 library directors/library managers to review and comment on the proposed changes. The proposed amendments to Commissioner’s Regulations described in the latest DRAFT document dated November 1, 2017 (http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/libdev/excerpts/finished_regs/902-revision.htm#revision902) are the result of these local, regional and statewide discussions.
