The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Bureau of Local Assessment requires that Assessors develop a periodic data inspection program which provides for a physical inspection of each property at least once every ten years. This is an ongoing program to ensure that accurate data is being used to maintain fair and equitable assessments.
The Covid-19 outbreak has complicated our normal cyclical program, yet our mandate to maintain accurate assessing records remains. Many industries and workplaces have been forced to adapt to new policies and procedures to keep staff and others safe. We have utilized new technology that allows us to accurately measure dwellings and verify our information. However, maintaining information on the interior of the property is also part of this process. With your cooperation, we believe much of the information we require can be gathered without jeopardizing the safety and well-being of those in our community.
