You have been invited to participate in this study because you subscribe to a listserv, or have been referred by a subsriber to a listserv, that has given permission to the researchers to solicit research participants.

We are interested in the experiences of Asian American Ph.D. students. We define "Asian American" as citizens or residents of the U.S., who have ethnic or ancestral ties to South Asia (Indian sub-continent), Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Burma; including Hmong, Mien and Chaam), the Philippines, or East Asia. We also welcome participants who are mixed-race Asian.

If you are an international student on a student visa, you are not eligible to complete this survey.

Also, to be eligible to participate, you must identify with one of the following statements:
*I am currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program.
OR
*I discontinued progress toward a Ph.D. within the last 3 years.
OR
*I completed my Ph.D. within the last 3 years.

If you complete the survey, you will be entered into a raffle to win one of two $10 iTunes gift certificates. You should not feel pressured to participate as a result of this incentive. This compensation is not conditional on the answers that you give.

Procedures:
If you agree to be in this study, you will be asked to complete a survey about your experiences as an Asian American Ph.D. student. Participation in this study will take approximately 20-30 minutes.

Risks/Benefits:
There are no known risks associated with your participation in this research. Although you will receive no direct benefits, your participation will help advance the research literature on Asian American education.

Confidentiality:
You have the option of submitting your survey responses anonymously. However, at the end of the survey you will be asked to provide your name and contact information if you agree to participate in follow-up interviews or if you wish to be entered in a drawing for an iTunes gift certificate. If you provide your name and contact information, your data will no longer be submitted to the research team anonymously, but the research team will keep your responses confidential. Data from this study will be kept in a secure location and will be destroyed after it is coded.

Rights:
Participation in this study is voluntary. You may refuse to participate or withdraw at any time without penalty. Nonparticipation or withdrawal from participation will not affect your academic standing or employment status.

I understand that my participation in this study involves filling out a questionnaire on this website. My participation is voluntary and I may stop filling out the survey at any time. I understand that the findings based on all of the participants’ surveys will be reported in summary form.
