Regional Deadline: July 23, 2021

Each year, NAHRO seeks to honor a commissioner who has shown exceptional leadership. We are pleased to announce that this year, MARC NAHRO is soliciting nominees for the Regional Commissioner of the Year Award. The regional winner will be submitted for the national competition. This is your opportunity to nominate a peer and/or encourage a peer to apply for this recognition, or to apply yourself based on your individual accomplishments. We hope you will consider participating in the Regional Commissioners of the Year Award program.

To honor a current commissioner, or one who has served within the past 12 months, who has demonstrated excellence in advocating for and developing the financial, political, and community support necessary to ensure the continuation and expansion of housing or community development programs.

This award was established in 1987 to honor the efforts of commissioners in the industry. The first award was given to Ms. Elizabeth B. Wells whose own contributions included being a member of the Board of Commissioners of the King County (WA) Housing Authority and serving as NAHRO’s first Vice President of the Commissioners Committee. This award is provided to a commissioner who embodies the excellence of Ms. Wells contributions.

Each nominee must be an individual or associate member of National NAHRO, have contributed to the areas of community leadership, advocacy, and public relations as well as to the activities of NAHRO and cannot be employed by the Housing Authority and serve as Commissioner simultaneously.

The Regional Recipient will be entered into the competition for the National Commissioners of the Year Award.
