Questionnaire: 2023 Paulist Pilgrimage to the Holy Land Thank you for your interest in the Paulist Pilgrimage to the Holy Land, January 22 - February 2, 2023!This questionnaire is an important part of your registration. Each individual pilgrim must complete this questionnaire before their registration form will be processed. Question Title * 1. Name and contact information Full Name Address Address 2 City/Town State/Province ZIP/Postal Code Country Email Address Phone Number Question Title * 2. Date of birth Date of birth Date Assessment of your PHSYICAL, MENTAL, and SPIRITUAL preparedness for the pilgrimage Question Title * 3. We believe that this pilgrimage will be spiritually moving and lots of fun. However, we will be shepherding a large group of people in a foreign land with customs very different from North America. It is our responsibility to make sure that you are sufficiently prepared to make this pilgrimage. Please read the entirety of “2023 Paulist Holy Land Pilgrimage Preparation Guide – truncated version.” Then, please check the box next to each of the following statements to indicate your agreement with them. I understand that this trip is intended primarily as a pilgrimage, not as a sight-seeing trip. I understand that if I do not feel well enough to depart each morning with the rest of the group, I will probably miss out on all the activities of the day. I understand that the cultural customs of people in the Holy Land are different from those of people in North America. I will do my best to handle these differences in a spirit of respect and curiosity. I will stay with the group as instructed, and not wander off on my own. I will obey all instructions given by the Tour Guide, Pilgrimage Coordinator, and Chaplain. I will be prompt for all departures from airports, buses, hotels, and pilgrimage sites. I will comply with all Covid-19 protocols required by the airlines, the airports, the nation of Israel, the West Bank, and all shrines, hotels, and restaurants that we visit. I am in good enough physical shape to stand for several hours a day, walk on uneven cobblestones, crouch through low doorways, and climb and descend a flight of stairs. If the Tour Guide, Pilgrimage Coordinator, or Chaplain assess that I am not physically able to participate in a strenuous activity (such as climbing the 167 steps to the Church of the Visitation), I will respect their decision and sit out the activity. I will carry at least 12 ounces of water with me every day on the trip. I understand that I must have my own water supply, and not depend on sharing water with another pilgrim. I understand that we may occasionally be in large crowds in tightly confined spaces, and that people in these crowds may not follow North American customs of forming orderly lines. I understand that there may be last-minute changes to our itinerary, and I understand that we will often receive important instructions at the last minute. There will be many opportunities for pilgrims to proclaim Scripture passages aloud for the group. I am willing to serve as lector at least twice during the pilgrimage. Even if I am in the middle of purchasing souvenirs when the Tour Guide, Pilgrimage Coordinator, or Chaplain announce that it is time to go, I will willingly leave the souvenirs behind and board the bus as directed.
