The engineering consultancy industry plays a vital role in Malaysia’s development, yet it is facing increasing pressure from intense fee competition, rising responsibilities, and challenges in sustaining professional quality and talent development. The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) is conducting this survey to:
- To better understand the current industry practice on consultancy fees
- To identify the challenges faced by the industry due to low consultancy fees
- To highlight the declining attractiveness and sustainability of the engineering consultancy profession
The findings will support constructive discussions with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and the engineering community to strengthen the value, sustainability, and professionalism of engineering consultancy services in Malaysia.
