Introduction

The National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) is currently surveying Victorian organisations about their response to elder abuse. Your answers to this survey will contribute to a broader understanding of elder abuse and what is needed to address it.

We are interested in finding out what prevention and intervention measures are being used in Victoria, and whether they are effective. This includes interventions that directly address situations of elder abuse, as well as those that seek to lower the risk of an older person experiencing abuse, or interventions that address the personal circumstances of perpetrators of abuse.

In short, we are interested in the following:

1. Whether your clients are affected by elder abuse (as victims or perpetrators), and how your organisation addresses this.

2. How the state-wide response to elder abuse can be improved and be made more effective.

We are interested in capturing a wide range of responses to this survey, so even if you feel your organisation has little experience or knowledge of elder abuse, we would like you to take part.

Please note:
  • Your participation is completely voluntary.
  • If you wish to remain anonymous, you are able to do so.
  • By submitting the survey you are giving your consent to take part in the survey and for the researchers to compile reports and publications of the results.
Please answer the survey questions to the best of your knowledge. There is space at the end of the survey for any further information you wish to add. This survey will take you approximately 25 minutes to complete.

If you would like to be contacted about participation in a focus group about screening tools or a workshop to discuss elder abuse interventions and service provision, please leave your contact details at the end of the survey.

This project is funded by Gandel Philanthropy and implemented by NARI. The Advisory Group includes members of National Ageing Research Institute, Seniors Rights Victoria, Office of the Public Advocate, St Vincent's Hospital, Housing for the Aged Action Group and Gandel Philanthropy.
