PURPOSE OF STUDY
You are invited to participate in a research study examining burnout, job satisfaction, work-life balance, and perceived supervisory support among Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) professionals who provide services to children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
The purpose of this study is to better understand factors associated with professional well-being among Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs), and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). Information obtained from this study may contribute to the development of organizational practices and supervisory approaches that support workforce retention and professional well-being within ABA service settings.
STUDY PROCEDURES
If you agree to participate, you will complete an anonymous online survey. The survey will include demographic questions and several standardized questionnaires that assess burnout, job satisfaction, work-life balance satisfaction, supervisory support, and caseload characteristics.
Participation is expected to take approximately 15 to 20 minutes. You may complete the survey using a computer, tablet, or mobile device with internet access. Participation involves a single survey session.
To participate, you must:
Be at least 18 years of age.
Currently hold or be working under one of the following ABA credentials: RBT, BCaBA, BCBA, or BCBA-D.
Currently provide ABA services to children diagnosed with ASD.
RISKS
The risks associated with participation are minimal and no greater than those encountered during normal daily activities.
Some survey questions may prompt you to reflect on workplace experiences, stress, burnout, or job satisfaction. Although unlikely, these questions may cause mild emotional discomfort. You may skip any question you do not wish to answer and may discontinue participation at any time without penalty.
BENEFITS
There is no direct benefit to you for participating in this study.
However, the information obtained from this study may contribute to a greater understanding of factors associated with burnout and job satisfaction among ABA professionals. Findings may assist organizations and supervisors in developing strategies to support practitioner well-being and workforce stability.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Your participation in this study is anonymous. No identifying information, such as your name, address, employer, phone number, or email address, will be collected as part of the survey.
Survey responses will be stored on a password-protected electronic device accessible only to the researcher. Data will be maintained for a minimum of five years following completion of the study and will then be permanently destroyed.
Results will be reported only in aggregate form. Individual responses will not be identifiable in any reports, presentations, publications, or dissertation documents resulting from this study.
