AFT 1493 Bargaining Survey 2025-2028

Our current contract expires in July 2025, and AFT will begin negotiations in early Spring 2025.

To prepare, we need your input on faculty needs. Please complete this survey to help shape contract proposals that reflect the priorities of all faculty members. Your feedback is crucial for the ratification of the proposal sunshine statement.

Compensation: yearly raises, changes to the salary step raise structure, reaching 85% part time pay parity goal, etc.
Load: load parity for all work (e.g. lab-lecture), load-based pay for PT faculty, definition of ancillary work, and increased professional time/pay for non-instructional faculty, etc.
Assignments & Assignment Procedures: increased faculty control over schedules and work modality, stronger load guarantee for PT faculty, and public posting of seniority lists
Class Cancellation: defined course cancellation timeline, compensation for canceled classes, etc.
Healthcare & Benefits: increased contributions to health benefits, dental/vision for PT faculty, paid family leave, and enhanced retirement options, etc.
Contract Duration: part-time assignments per academic year, year round pay for year round work, optional 12-month pay cycle for FT faculty, etc.
Disability Accommodations Protections: formal timeline and accountability by the District for implementing ADA accommodations for physical and mental disabilities, etc.
Academic Freedom: language preventing curriculum censorship, protecting faculty rights to political activism, and protecting professional duties based on faculty expertise from management interference, etc.
Dual Enrollment: opt-in assignments, required written communication on duties and hours outside the faculty contract, etc.
Workplace Health & Safety: clear accountability, roles, and reporting on safety issues, expanded faculty rights regarding safety and wellness concerns, etc.
