Thank you for taking part in this survey! This survey is completely anonymous. It should take no longer than 10 minutes to fill in.
Who can participate?
This survey is for members of peer-led recovery communities in Greater Manchester. Being part of a peer led recovery group means members, facilitators, volunteers and founders in the group have all experienced addiction and have expertise gained from that.
What is this survey about?
The survey is part of a study that aims to understand the value of recovery communities for people and communities. Recovery communities are peer-initiated and peer-led groups that bring together people who are recovering from addiction. There is growing evidence that peer-led initiatives like this can significantly improve people’s ability to achieve recovery, however, these initiatives often survive on small amounts of funding. Your responses and other data from the study will be used for generating a business case to increase the funding for recovery communities, which will be presented to Drug and Alcohol Commissioners and other associated professional bodies. Data may also be used to inform other written reports and papers, presentations at events, workshops, meetings and electronically via websites, email and social media.
What happens to the responses?
The responses you give to this survey will be kept for analysis on a platform called Survey Monkey. Survey Monkey transfers data to servers based in the USA for storage. Survey Monkey has self-certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (“DPF”), the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF. This means that the European Commission considers SurveyMonkey Inc.’s data protection to be adequately protected under the GDPR. More information on Survey Monkey’s data and privacy procedures is here: Data Processing Agreements, Storage, and Transfers (EU) | SurveyMonkey Help
In addition, the information you give through the survey is fully anonymised and will be combined with other survey responses to show how people engage and feel about recovery communities. Some open-ended responses might be used as quotes, if appropriate, but care will be taken to remove any wording that might be used to identify specific individuals. It won’t be possible to link responses back to individual respondents. Because of this, you will no longer be able to withdraw your information, once you have submitted your responses.
Who is conducting the study and who do I contact for more information?
The study is overseen by a steering group comprised of people with lived experience. The research is carried out by a group of researchers with lived experience of addiction in collaboration with a researcher employed by 10GM. Gaddum participates within the steering committee and research through the Lived Experience Worker and overarching Coproduction Management being overseen by the Coproduction and Engagement Service Manager. The funding was awarded by Greater Manchester Combined Authority (Changing Futures).
