The purpose of this survey is to help find ways for us all to work together to support our kids, families and educators. What are your unique interests and skills? Let us know if you have other ideas for how to be involved. We look forward to building up our community together. PTSA uses Konstella.com to send out regular email correspondence and notifications of events.

Konstella.com is also be the online platform to make online donations or to join the PTSA. Parents, caregivers, teachers, staff, students, and community members are all encouraged to be PTSA members. Click here to become a PTSA Member. Its only $10 per member per year for parents/caregivers/community members. Its only $5 for staff and student memberships.

The first PTSA Meeting is planned for Tuesday, September 14 at 6pm. It is planned to be in-person with the option to call in and attend virtually. All are welcome to attend PTSA meetings. They are held once a month, but only members can vote. Email SheltonPTSA@gmail.com to request a scholarship to cover the PTSA membership fee.

* 2. I would like more information and/or I would like to be involved in the following PTSA committees and events.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Committee - coordinating meals, treats, and gifts throughout the year and/or manage the Shelton Staff Amazon Wish List.

STEM Committee - coordinate the STEM Fair, which will be a combination of hands-on activities lead by STEM professionals and Mines Students as well as a Fair to showcase student projects. The Fair is scheduled for the Fall. This committee will also help with supporting, creating, and maintaining STEM kits that students can check out from the library. A number of STEM Kits were created by Shelton's DTL in the spring of 2021.

Playground Committee (a sub group of the Health and Wellness Committee) - looking into options for improving our Shelton playgrounds.

Reflections Art Program Coordinator - a National PTA program. https://www.pta.org/home/programs/reflections. There is flexibility for display of artwork submissions to be included with other events or be a separate event. The theme this year is: "I will change the world by . . . .". Submissions can be in the form of dance film, literature, music, photography, or visual arts.

Talent Show Coordinator - The Talent Show is currently planned to be virtual. The coordinator would help with communication and editing using wevideo.com or another video editing program. There is the opportunity to help video student performances before, during, or after school to increase participation.

Garden Committee (a sub group of the Health and Wellness Committee)- help coordinate and maintain the Shelton School and Community Garden. The Shelton Garden is part of Denver Urban Gardens (DUG). This committee also supports teachers to allow students to make use of the garden. There is lots of opportunity to write grants throughout the year to support classroom gardening.

Health and Wellness Committee - includes Bike to School and Walk to School Events as well as Field Day. This committee meets monthly through the school year. The first meeting is scheduled for September 10 at 7:30am. This year the committee hopes to be able to host Breakfasts in the Garden as part of the Bike and Walk to School Events.

Family Engagement Committee - This team directly supports the efforts of Shelton's Family Engagement Liaison to help all Shelton students have what they need to be successful.

Yearbook Coordinator - Shelton has used TreeRing.com for years to create annual yearbooks. The coordinator would help with communication and collection of photos to help make sure the Yearbook is an accurate representation of the year.

Heritage Fair Coordinator - an event in January for all students and families to share their heritage through food, dance, music, and display boards.

Social Media and Website Coordinator - help with updating and maintaining Shelton PTSA Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SheltonPTSA) and/or the Shelton PTSA website (www.sheltonptsa.org)

Legislative Representative - help inform and educate PTSA members on legislative issues that concern students.

* 3. I would like to help with the 100 Mile Club. Its a new program that Shelton is starting this year to encourage students to be active at recess. The program will be coordinated through the Health and Wellness Committee. They will need several volunteers throughout the year at recess to help keep track of students' progress.

* 4. I would like to volunteer to be a room parent for my student(s)' classroom(s). Room parents typically help coordinate classroom parties, classroom volunteering, or other classroom needs that might arise. * 5. I would like to be part of the School Accountability Committee (SAC). SAC meets monthly, separately from PTSA. The first meeting is scheduled for September 13. There is no membership fee. SAC is a school advisory committee, that advises the principal on school performance, budget priorities, and parental engagement.

* 6. Shelton had a float in the Golden High School Homecoming Parade in 2018/19 and 2019/20. Are you interested in bringing that back this year? It could be working with students to design a float, or it could be coordinating something more simple like walking with banners/posters. The parade is typically in October.
