Dear EMS Stakeholder,

The NASEMSO National Model EMS Clinical Guidelines Project is beginning its next phase and would like your input. The initial project focused on developing a core set of clinical guidelines offered as an optional model for state, regional and local EMS systems to adopt, in full or in part. Those guidelines were released in October of 2014 (see NASEMSO Model EMS Clinical Guidelines). You may have been among the many stakeholders who contributed feedback to the initial set.

As we move ahead with revisions to keep this document contemporary, NASEMSO is requesting your review and comments regarding the draft revised Resuscitation chapter of the document.  This revision, which includes the cardiac arrest guideline, was completed following the review of the 2015 American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care guidelines and other recent literature.

In addition, we would like to obtain your input for potential new clinical guidelines. We have included proposed new guideline topics as well as a list of those completed in phase one. We welcome your feedback about the proposed list of topics.

The public comment period will continue to remain open, but to ensure your comments are considered prior to the next phase of the project, please respond by May 15, 2016.  Thank you for your support of this project.

Sincerely,

Carol A. Cunningham, M.D., FAAEM, FACEP (Co-Principal Investigator)
Richard A. Kamin, M.D., FACEP (Co-Principal Investigator)
