Delegates to the National Congress of Family Medicine Residents (NCFMR) and National Congress of Students Members (NCSM)
An important element of the National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students is the convening of the resident and student congresses. These congresses are valuable resources to the Academy. Resolutions generated by these bodies are referred to the AAFP Board of Directors and commissions for further development and action or referred directly to the AAFP Congress of Delegates.
During the final business session, an election of officers is held. The NCFMR/NCSM Rules of Order state that each constituent chapter may have one vote in the election and that a delegate must be a member of the AAFP, registered as a delegate representing a constituent chapter, and active or associated with an accredited family medicine residency program or enrolled in a medical school.
