Morrison Road - Asphalt Art Initiative Grant Program
In 2021, BuCu West, Art Students League of Denver, The Trust for Public Land, Re:Vision, Hecho en Westwood, and Denver Department of Transportation & Infrastructure, received a grant to support creative placemaking through asphalt artwork around the intersections of Morrison Road, Virginia Ave, and Newton St. The project will take place in summer 2022.

Project Goals
  • To create more pedestrian-friendly areas along Morrison Road
  • To support local businesses and cultural institutions on the corridor
  • To engage community in the long-term vision for streetscaping & transportation safety along Morrison Road
  • To build awareness of the Westwood Via Verde project, a community-driven 3-mile neighborhood greenway in Westwood connecting neighborhood bikeways, green streets, parks, and alleys
