The BVA Young Vet of the Year Award celebrates exceptional early career vets who demonstrate outstanding care, professionalism, interpersonal skills and a commitment to making a positive impact in the veterinary profession, animal welfare or a specific cause.

The award is open to vets who have been qualified for eight years or less and are registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). Vets can work in any area of the profession, including clinical practice, research, education and veterinary politics.

You can nominate someone else or enter yourself, and nominations are welcome from anyone, including members of the public. There is no limit to the number of times someone can enter or be nominated, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

You'll need to provide the following:
  • a summary of why the nominee deserves to win (maximum 400 words), including evidence of why they deserve to win against the award criteria (which you can find here) including any supporting evidence
  • the nominee's full name, email address, workplace details, and RCVS number (which you can find here)
