Thank you for your interest in this survey on psilocybin usage and perceptions in South Africa.
Your participation is completely voluntary. The survey is anonymous and no identifying information will be collected. You may choose to stop responding at any point. By continuing, you confirm that you understand the voluntary and anonymous nature of the survey. This survey is not academic research and is not intended for academic publication. Its purpose is to gather public perspectives and lived experiences related to psilocybin, across as many representative communities of South Africa as possible. The insights collected may help inform discussions and generalised data submissions for the upcoming legal review regarding the potential decriminalisation of psilocybin in South Africa.
For the purpose of this survey: the term “psilocybin” refers to psychedelic mushrooms commonly known as “shrooms” or “magic mushrooms”. Medicinal mushrooms (e.g. lion’s mane, reishi, cordyceps) are not included, as they are non-psychoactive and do not produce psychedelic effects.
Please read each question carefully and answer as accurately as you feel comfortable. We appreciate your time and contribution to this important national conversation.
