VC Resilient Sea Level Rise Adaptation Strategy Survey

This survey is included in public outreach efforts for the County of Ventura VC Resilient Coastal Adaptation Project. It is intended to encourage public participation and to educate the public about sea level rise planning. More information about sea level rise planning, specific vulnerabilities, and potential adaptation strategies for the unincorporated coastal areas is described on the  VC Resilient Webpage. This survey is not intended to provide a statistically significant of any population, nor will the results be used as a basis to prepare sea level rise regulations for the County's Local Coastal Program. Protect existing uses in areas vulnerable to sea level rise flooding (existing uses include homes, commercial buildings, public parks, and infrastructure such as utilities and roads).
Design development and properties that are redeveloped (buildings and infrastructure) to withstand some potential sea level rise flooding by elevating it to be above potential flooding hazards when it is redeveloped.
Consider relocation of development that is vulnerable to potential sea level rise flooding.
Use a combination of the above methods.
Do nothing for now. This could be for various reasons such as: wait until there are more harmful impacts, additional studies are needed, it is too expensive, property rights concerns, etc.

Maintain existing uses and services, including private residential development and public facilities such as roads, utilities, parks and campgrounds.
Plan for new or relocated uses and services, including private residential development and public facilities such as roads, utilities, parks and campgrounds.
Conserve beaches and habitat for public use and threatened or endangered species.
Preserve assets that support the economy such as agricultural land, businesses, and coordinate with Point Mugu and Port Hueneme to conserve their job-rich assets.
Restore the natural coastline and enhance processes that deliver sand to beaches.
Coordinate adaptation planning efforts with stakeholder groups that have interests in the coast, including but not limited to homeowner's associations, landowners, realtors, recreationalists, Native American tribal organizations, community-based organizations, and sensitive populations.
