Pre-registration for COBALT Bioregional Learning Journey (September 11-17) Survey

Introduction

On behalf of the expedition planning team (Zack Anchors, Portland Paddle; Leah Day Lighthouse Bikes; Sara Freshley, Friends of Casco Bay; Glenn Page COBALT/Team Zostera; and Minot Weld Heartwood Timber LLC) we thank you for your interest in pre-registering for the September COBALT Bioregional Learning Journey. As noted in the Expedition Briefing this is designed exclusively for organizations (NGOs, Businesses, Government entities) who are focusing on some dimensions of coastal resilience. This expedition is one of many events that we will be setting up to map who's doing what, where, to what extent and to see if we can make linkages to the many climate action plans that are being developed across the Casco Bay Bioregion. We will also explore some "BIG IDEAS" that could require far greater collaboration and introduce a bioregional digital twin that will serve as the holding space for the data that is collected. This is an ambitious plan, and the first time any of us are attempting a three day kayak followed by a three day bike - that weaves together both retreat-style convening and expedition adventure. So, if you are willing pre-register, you will be taking the first step to joining us AND to help co-create what we hope is the first of many expeditions like this.

A few reminders. Please save the date on your calendar as this is the first step to registration. However, this pre-registration does not commit you - it simply offers us your interest in taking the next step towards full registrations. At this stage you will be able to sign up for the entire six-day expedition or a three-day portion that would be the full sea kayak portion or the bike portion. We estimate this pre-registration will require approximately 10 minutes to complete and GREATLY appreciate this contribution at this stage of planning. Please complete this pre-registration ASAP (hopefully by Wednesday June 5th) so that we can continue our planning process and move to the next stage of final registration.

3.We are convening an expedition "kick-off" reception, dinner and event on the evening of September 11th. This will include a special presentation on the history of Back Cove at the Osher Map Library and Smith Center for Cartographic Education on the Portland Campus at the University of Southern Maine. This serves as a brief orientation and celebration launch to the retreat/expedition (likely 5-8 pm). Would you be interested in an invitation to this event?(Required.)
