EYEJ Impact 25 Youth Council Ambassador Application - 2019

EYEJ’s mission is to empower and amplify the voices of teens and pre-teens by bridging them with diverse individuals to engage in interactive discussions centered around social justice.

The EYEJ Impact 25 Youth council is focused on creating programming and policy change to help youth in Cleveland by making fundamental change.  Formed in 2017 in partnership with A Partnership to a Safer Cleveland and thanks to the Larry Doby Youth Fund, they deliberated over a course of 6 months through an intense process and decided to focus on the areas of toxic stress, police-youth relationships and youth independency (life skills)  as areas that would help with youth safety.  They worked together to create programming recommendations and presented them to over 100 high-level Clevelanders including the Chief of Cleveland Police; Calvin Williams.  They asked for $140,000 in this meeting, and thanks to the Tegna Foundation, some of it has been funded.  For 2019, with the support of EYEJ, we are focusing on fundraising, messaging our recommendations, implementation and a deeper build-out of the council.  Therefore we need your help!

EYEJ and the EYEJ Impact 25 Youth Council are adding a new role of the EYEJ Impact 25 Youth Council Ambassador for 2019!  We are looking for 50 Ambassadors to help support getting the message out about the EYEJ Impact 25 Youth Council's recommendations.  The ambassadors will meet 4 times in 2019, with the first meeting being April 25 from 6-8PM!  You must be a resident of the City of Cleveland and between the age of 15-25.

This is a VOLUNTEER opportunity.  There is no pay.  Please note the remaining 3 session dates are subject to change due to happenings with the youth council's schedule for the year.  However, there will be a meeting in 2nd meeting in Q2, Q3 and a final meeting in Q4 of 2019.  Attendance is critical and commitment for 2019 is needed.  The positions are open to all Cleveland youth ages 15-25 (must be no older than 25 by December 2019).  Meetings will be mostly held at the EYEJ office - 3535 Perkins Ave. Cleveland OH 44114.  You will get exposure through Cleveland press, high-level representatives in the media, sports, non-profit, government industries for your work.  You must be comfortable having a picture taken of you and/or on video or writing!

If you are age 15-25 and reside outside the City of Cleveland but would like to volunteer and participate in this initiative – please email EYEJ's Executive Director; Mai Moore @ mai@eyej.org to become a Bridge Member.  Additionally, if you are interested in being a 2019 youth council member and reside in the City of the Cleveland and can commit to 8 sessions, please consider becoming a EYEJ Impact 25 Youth Council MEMBER, please complete that application (not this one).

If you are unable to complete the form online, you may also mail the application to EYEJ; 3535 Perkins Ave. Cleveland OH 44114.

Applications are due April 1, 2019.  An application must be completed (below) to be a contender for one of the open slots for the Ambassador role.  If your application is chosen, next step would be a phone interview.  In this case, someone from the EYEJ team and/or EYEJ Impact 25 Youth Council will be in touch with you soon to set this up.
