What's next for Open Air Electives?

Open Air Electives is an outdoor drop-off program in Loudoun County, designed with the homeschool family in mind. Originally created in 2020 as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Open Air has filled a unique niche for many families, and will continue into the next school year! Help us plan the next steps!

* 1. Our current locations include Sterling and Purcellville. If we were to consolidate into 1 location for the 2021-22 school year, where are you most likely to attend Open Air Electives?

I would only attend the Sterling location.

I would only attend the Purcellville location.

* 2. One of our biggest obstacles to keeping both locations of Open Air operating on a longer-term basis is the need for an Onsite Coordinator at each location. The Onsite Coordinator would be required to complete a background check and some training, and would be in charge of the onsite program, overseeing check-in/check-out, class transitions, first aid, restrooms, and would be the POC for parents during the program. The Coordinator would receive 1 full student scholarship to the Open Air Program. Would you be willing or able to help with this role?

Yes, I would be willing to apply for this role on a one-semester basis.

No, I would not be able to take on this role.

I would support and participate in a weekly parent rotation to cover this role as a volunteer (no scholarship).

* 3. We anticipate restrictions being lifted in our state throughout the next year as COVID-19 numbers decline. At what point would you feel comfortable with an indoor inclement weather option or an indoor Winter program?

I would feel comfortable now, with masks and social distancing.

I would feel comfortable when masks and social distancing are no longer required indoors by state mandates.

I would feel comfortable when a vaccine is widely available to children.

I would feel comfortable with dropping both social distancing and masks while outside.

I would feel comfortable with optional masks, but would want social distancing to remain in place. (Please note: this is the current status at Open Air.)
