Purpose of this Survey

The Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) submitted a winning proposal to the New York State Upstate Airport Economic Development and Revitalization Initiative. ROC was the first Airport in the state awarded a $39.8 million grant to transform and enhance the terminal, inside and out, to create a high-tech smart facility that best serves the business and economic needs of families in the Finger Lakes Region while reducing barriers for passengers with disabilities.

As part of the larger ROC Revitalization Project, The Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) has commissioned a study to evaluate the feasibility of developing an airport related technology incubator on its’ premises. The Technology Incubator Feasibility Study will explore the possibility of creating an incubator that will respond to industry demand while being complementary to the region’s strengths and research expertise. Cyber-security, smart airport technologies, terminal efficiency technologies as well as hearing and visual impairment assistive technologies and other associated technologies aimed at improving passenger experience and increase efficiencies will be part of the studied fields of research for the future incubator.

A large component of the study involves listening to local stakeholders and the general public to understand the region’s strengths and expertise. As such, ROC invited the population of Rochester, key businesses and community leaders to participate in a Public Meeting session that was held on August 30th. The aim of the event was to present study’s objectives, introduce the project team and gather input from the community through a workshop exercise. Participants were asked to provide their views and opinion about the type of activities and programming that should take place in the incubator facility, to tell us what improvements they would like to see made at ROC Airport to enhance passenger experience, and share their thoughts about potential synergies and partnerships with other local endeavors.

For those of you who could not attend the Public Meeting, this survey provides you the opportunity to share your opinion.
