Hillside Cemetery - Commemorative Memorial Survey

The Hillside Cemetery is the final resting place of several members of the community, estimated to be more than 230, who died while living at the Lunenburg Municipal Hospital (also referred to as the County Home), which was located on the site of the current Municipal Activity Recreation Complex (MARC), 33 Leary Fraser Road, Dayspring, NS.

This survey is to gather input from relatives and loved ones of those buried at Hillside Cemetery about installing a memorial to individually commemorate those interred. The responses will help Council decide whether to move forward with a Commemorative Memorial project.
1.Do you believe you have a relative / loved one buried at Hillside Cemetery?
2.What was their name?
3.Would you want your relative / loved one's name to be publicly available on our website? (Currently, although this is part of a public record, the burial list is only released on request).
4.Would you be interested to see the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg exploring a commemorative structure for individual names at the cemetery? (Currently there is an interpretive panel and a memorial stone and plaque at the site, with no individuals named).
5.Would you want your relative / loved one's name on this memorial?
6.How much would you be prepared to financially contribute for a name plaque for your relative / loved one?
7.Required. Please provide your name and contact details so that we can update you on the progress of this initiative (expected Spring 2027)(Required.)
