Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement
I support the maintenance of regional law enforcement training academies, and Juvenile detention programs. I support grant funding needed for law enforcement equipment replacement and current crime victims programs.

Community & Economic Development
I support initiatives that spur job creation and retention and help to build and sustain the necessary infrastructure that business need to grow.

Environmental/Air Quality
I support the maintenance of "near non-attainment" funding to allow the East Texas region to continue to meet Federal air quality standards.

Emergency Communications
I support the full implementation of statewide Next Generation 9-1-1 and efforts to coordinate, develop, implement and manage an interconnected state wide 9-1-1 network. I support efforts to continue to strengthen radio interoperability infrastructure at the regional level.

Emergency Preparedness
I support emergency preparedness regional planning, target identification, training , exercises and simulations.

Health & Human Services
I support the preservation of community based services for indigents, senior citizens, and people with disabilities.

Housing
I generally support existing state and local initiatives aimed at assisting vulnerable populations with home repairs and weatherization. Additional solutions should be considered to help local communities deal with abandoned and/or condemned homes that reduce property values and are a safety hazard to the public.

Revenue Caps
I oppose the imposition of revenue caps because they hamper economic development, community growth, and the ability of local governments to meet the infrastructure and other needs of its citizens.

Transportation
I support the implementation of multi-modal transportation initiatives that result in increased transportation options for East Texans and economic stimulus for our region. I support state and federal initiatives to provide funding for regional councils of governments to actively provide transportation planning and coordination as Rural Planning Organizations (RPOs).

Unfunded Mandates
I oppose any additional unfunded mandates from the state or federal government.

Water Supply/Policy
I support initiatives designed to promote increased water supply for the East Texas region. I oppose any efforts to divert the regions water supply to address out-of region needs without the consent of appropriate East Texas local authorities.

Workforce Training/Education
I support initiatives aimed at upgrading the skills of our workforce and preparing emerging workers for demand occupations.
