Before releasing the RFP we gathered some information on your credit card processing options in the library. Today, we need to distinguish between the Payment Gateway and the Merchant Provider.

Payment Gateway is the vendor that provides the solution or interface, like Comprise, EnvisionWare, or ePay.
Merchant Provider is the payment processor that works behind the scenes, like Heartland, Global Payments, First Data, TSYS, Chase, and Elavon.

For example, ePay would be a payment gateway or vendor, while Forte or Global would be the current Merchant Provider or Processor. In future, JetPay will be an ePay processor.
