KAMA DC Class Organizer (Volunteer)

Thank you so much for expressing an interest in joining KAMA DC's core team of volunteers! We are looking for a volunteer to help organize our classes. Immigrant-run classes are the core of what we do at KAMA DC and what distinguishes us from other non-profits working with immigrant communities in the DMV area. We strive to create a platform for immigrants to teach any kind of class they want, based on whatever skills and interests they have. Our classes have ranged from Thai cooking classes, to a workshop on Persian language and etiquette, to Afro-Venezuelan dance. At present, all classes are taught online.

Our volunteers walk our teachers through every step of the process of organizing the class, including brainstorming ideas, thinking about the structure and content of the class, and helping spread the word.

We're looking for a volunteer who has excellent inter-personal skills and is creative and flexible. Most of our teachers have no prior experience of teaching a class and English is rarely their native language. We are also looking for someone who has strong logistical and communication skills.

If all of this sounds like something you'd like to get involved in, we'd like you to answer a few questions to better understand your availability, skills, and interests to help us work out if it would be a good fit.
