Dear friend,

We are seeking feedback about your congregation’s activities with older adults. Communities of Faith have a long tradition of caring for aging members. Many congregations rely on older adults for leadership roles in their community. Some have developed “senior ministries”, social programs and other services. Few congregations have dedicated staff to work specifically with their aging members.  However, congregations do not often have the opportunity to communicate with each other about the needs they observe in their communities or their various programs and services.

Montgomery County is experiencing a significant surge in aging population: in 10 years 1 in 4 county residents would be over 65. In addition, over 90% of older adults plan to age in place. These two facts put together create an imperative to rethink the way aging is perceived and addressed. We believe communities of faith can play a leading role in harnessing the power of their aging members to benefit their communities as well as developing a compassionate and responsive aging program.

The goals of this survey are twofold: 1. to learn about the needs of your aging members.  2. to learn about your community’s older adults’ programs.

Please take the time to respond to the following 4 questions. If you are not the most knowledgeable person in your congregation, please forward this survey to the one you think would be in the best position to do so.
