One Stop Hub Survey
The current workforce shortage in Waterloo Region and other Canadian municipalities is having an impact on businesses. The workforce is shrinking as unprecedented numbers of workers retire with fewer workers entering the labour market. 76% of local employers have indicated that they have employees leaving their organizations with 60% of those employees leaving voluntarily. Additionally, 64% of local employers have indicated that it is difficult to fill positions and 54% of respondents reported not receiving sufficient number of applicants as a top reason.
At the same time, Waterloo Region is becoming home to a greater proportion of Canada’s immigrants (8th highest per capita in Canada), with nearly 3,000 new immigrants arriving in Waterloo region each year. Local employers have shared their interest in hiring immigrants both locally and from abroad however; in Waterloo Region there is no single location for Employers to access Immigrant talent.
Our Proposed Answer – A Business focused Immigrant Talent Hub
Together with the Chamber of Commerce, local Employers, Waterloo Region Immigration Partnership and other Community partners, we are seeking feedback from local Employers to better identify your needs for attracting, engaging and recruiting Immigrant talent in the Waterloo region.
