Lorraine Robinson, MSW, ACSW served as Executive Director of TJ Mahoney & Associates, Ka Hale Ho`āla Hou No Nā Wāhine, a residential reentry program for women offenders. Under Lorraine’s leadership, the program developed a unique model and approach, specifically tailored for our unique island population. The program recently transferred (intact) to the YWCA of Oahu Fernhurst, where Lorraine currently serves as a consultant. She was a master trainer for the federally sponsored Serious and Violent Offender Re-entry Initiative (SVORI) and has received numerous accolades and awards for her distinguished service to female offenders. She is known throughout Hawaii for her advocacy and expertise on women with criminal justice involvement.

The workshop will focus on the importance of being gender responsive, strengths based, trauma informed and culturally relevant as foundational when working with female offenders A unique model of effective practice will be described. The impact of trauma on women with criminal justice involvement and the importance of self-care for practitioners will be reviewed and discussed. Practical tools and hands on experience will be included.
