It is that time of year again to vote for next year’s chapter board members! Their term will run from September 1st-July 31st, with a transition meeting occurring in August. Once again, we are pleased to have a well-rounded group of nominees, representing many area hospitals, schools, and experience.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO VOTE?
AACN members with active local membership. Please only vote once for each nominee.

Thank you for the nomination for president-elect for AACN-GKCC! This will be my 4th year serving on the board as the Treasurer. I have served on the board as Education Co-Chair and Co-Chair Elect, Treasurer Elect, and now Treasurer. I enjoy being a part of the board because it gives me the opportunity to work with a great group of nurses to provide networking and education opportunities for AACN members across the metro and beyond. My favorite event each year is Visions! I love working with my awesome peers on the board to pull it all together and make it a successful event each year.

Marci started her nursing career and grew up in a cardiac ICU, and has worked in various roles including STEMI coordinator and critical care educator. She finished her FNP during Covid and works PRN in a clinic while supporting nurses to ask and answer meaningful questions as director of nursing research at Saint Luke's.
I want the GKC AACN to be a place where critical and progressive care nurses can learn and belong. We are a special community, and sharing our knowledge and time, we can support each other while rising together.

I work at The University of Kansas Health System as the Nurse Manager of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Heart Failure Infusion Clinic. I have been at TUKHS for 7 years and after becoming the Unit Educator in January, transitioned to Unit Manager in May. 

I would like to be on the board because I have personally benefitted from being an AACN national and local member. Being on the board would allow me a chance to support the local chapter in a different capacity. I am currently pursuing my MSN/MBA and being treasurer-elect aligns with my interests. Thank you for your consideration.

The University of Kansas Health System Neuro Interventional Radiology

I’m honored to be nominated for the position of secretary elect. I am a nurse for a long time, born, raised, and trained as RN in Switzerland, worked there in ICUs (required a 2-year program) and Anesthesia (required a 2-year program). In the early 1990s my husband and I moved to Miami, FL, for 1 year….and in 2018 we moved from Miami to Kansas City. In Miami, I worked in the Neuro ICU, at Jackson Memorial Hospital and obtained my BSN and MSN degree. I also obtained and still maintain certifications: CCRN, CNRN, SCRN CRRN.  I work at KU Hospital in Neuro Interventional Radiology, and I’m also affiliate clinical faculty for KU School of Nursing. I would love to be more involved in your chapter. I am a longtime member of AACN and served the Greater Miami Area Chapter of AACN as active member for over 20 years and as board member for over 10 years (President and Director of Education). I believe I bring a lot of valuable chapter experience to the KC chapter.

I have been a GKCC AACN board member for 6 years and served in a variety of different roles. I enjoy being a part of our chapter and having the opportunity to work with peers in and out of my health system. Facilitating learning opportunities and information sharing sessions has been an exciting part of this role and highlighted how important it is to have this chapter and the events we provide to support our nurses in the Greater KC area!

 I’m interested in serving on the board for the GKC: AACN because I believe bedside ICU nurses do an amazingly difficult job and they deserve a local, professional organization that supports them with mentorship, education and resources.   I would love to be a part of the team creating just this for all those that need it!

I am one of the current Unit Educators for the Cath Lab at KU

Although I am a newer member to this group, I have enjoyed participating and find the information, education, and networking helpful and an avenue outside of work to learn and meet others with similar interests.

I am appreciative for the opportunity to serve in an Educator capacity. I feel that my current role as a unit Educator will be advantageous in filling the needs of this position.

I have been on the board for many years and have enjoyed meeting nurses throughout the Greater KC area. I have been part of VISIONS Planning groups. Supporting our nurses in Acute/Progressive and ICU’s is a passion. I love providing ways to celebrate our nurses and the profession.
