Clinical and Experimental Optometry (CXO) is proud to launch a new international series — EYECARE (Evidence in Your Eye Care: Advancing Research and Education) — designed to connect research and practice through global collaboration.

The first instalment, EYECARE: Diabetes and Optometric Practice, will include four peer-reviewed papers addressing key aspects of diabetes care in optometric practice:

1. Epidemiology and impact
2. Pathophysiology and clinical presentation
3. Screening, detection and grading in optometric practice
4. Optometry’s role in multidisciplinary diabetes care

Lead authors have been appointed, and we are now inviting expressions of interest from international optometrists, clinicians and researchers to join the author working groups.

Purpose and scope
EYECARE papers synthesise global evidence, identify practice gaps, and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations to guide future optometric practice.

Role and commitment
- Contribute evidence-based content aligned with your area of expertise
- Participate in 2-3 virtual meetings in 2026
- Review and provide feedback on draft manuscripts
- Collaborate internationally under the guidance of the lead author and CXO editorial team
- Participate in 2 rounds of an online Delphi survey to create recommendations

Who should apply
EOIs are encouraged from optometrists and researchers across all countries. Diversity of expertise, geography, and perspective will be prioritised to ensure global relevance.
