The Bog Meadow Management Company is leading an ambitious community-driven project in conjunction with Wicklow County Council to re-develop The Bog Meadow Community Hub and Multi-Use Sports Facilities, a vital facility designed to support the future needs of our growing and evolving community.
The project, with full planning permission and extensive environmental surveys already in place, is shovel-ready to move forward subject to funding. It represents a €4 - 5 million investment in multi-sport and community infrastructure, for Enniskerry and the surrounding areas, delivering year-round accessible facilities including a new community hub, upgraded sports facilities, and enhanced recreational spaces. This investment addresses a clear gap in all-weather and indoor facilities of scale across the community and surrounding areas.
Inadequate and Outdated current facilities:
Community sports groups have been part of Enniskerry since the 1970s, serving hundreds of local members from young children to adults, including inclusive programmes for individuals with additional needs. However, current facilities in the village remain inadequate and outdated, requiring many groups to rent external venues, often outside of the community. This places a significant financial burden on local organisations and requires members and their families to travel regularly - an unsustainable situation that limits the growth and accessibility of community sport in the area.
The Project aims to provide:
- A new community hub with multi-purpose rooms, showers and changing facilities, and meeting spaces, to serve local clubs and a wide range of community organisations.

- Improved sports facilities, broadening the range of recreational opportunities available to the community, including: a full-sized football pitch with improved drainage, a modern all-weather facility, ensuring year-round sport participation, and improved tennis courts and a padel court.
The development aligns with Government priorities on inclusion, active ageing, health and wellbeing, youth engagement, and rural regeneration, and is being progressed as a priority submission under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF).
This project is a locally-led initiative that aligns with national rural development policy and aims to revitalize The Bog Meadow, Enniskerry, Wicklow by providing a space that fosters community spirit, inclusion, and connection.
