Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs’ Sustainability Committee is working toward goals and objectives that will sustain arts and culture. As the county seeks a Chief Sustainability Officer to revisit the County’s sustainability Plan “Your Home for Life,” the committee must keep moving ahead toward the needs of the arts community and those who we impact.

What is sustainability? The concept of sustainability is composed of three pillars: economic, environmental, and social/human — also known informally as profits, planet, and people. Sustainability focuses on meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

What is resiliency? Resiliency is the ability to sustain your operations after economic downturn, natural disasters, or unexpected circumstances.

What is environment? Environment is the surroundings or conditions in which we live. This includes natural and man-made forces and activities, things seen and unseen. The sum total of our surroundings — including the conditions we live and work in — influence how we feel or how effectively we can live, work, and play.

– Within these, the #1 focus for Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs is: How can the arts be sustained? Take a few minutes, right now, to tell us your greatest needs; it’s imperative. The deadline for this questionnaire is Friday, December 20th at 5:00pm.
