Pickleball courts are coming to Chatfield District Park, and we want your thoughts on the design!

Introduction

In March 2025, Vaughan Council endorsed the City of Vaughan’s Tennis and Pickleball Strategy (PDF), a comprehensive plan outlining recommendations for court infrastructure, programming, community clubs and court management. This strategy was shaped by feedback from more than 1,500 residents who participated in the Tennis and Racquet Sports Study between November 2023 and May 2024.

Through this engagement, we heard that interest in racquet sports – especially pickleball – is growing. In response, one of the strategy’s key recommendations is to build new dedicated pickleball facilities throughout the city.

As a next step, the City is exploring the addition of three dedicated pickleball courts at Chatfield District Park (100 Lawford Rd.), just east of the existing tennis courts. This park is the ideal location for new courts as it has space available and serves residents from across Ward 3 and the broader community.

Before we move forward, we want to hear from you! Your feedback will help confirm the proposed courts’ design to ensure they support the needs, preferences and enjoyment of both players and nearby residents.
