Which art in Carnaby Park?

Carnaby Park is one step closer to receiving its own public art masterpiece! Three pieces have been selected, and now we want to hear from you.

East Gwillimbury is seeking community feedback to help select the piece that will be installed at Carnaby Park, located at 80 Alvin Pegg Drive. Review the three finalist pieces and vote for the one you'd like to see in the park.

1. The Fallen by Hooman Mehdizadehjafari

Inspired by the Battle of Vimy Ridge, The Fallen uses the image of a falling sugar maple seed to symbolize sacrifice, resilience, and renewal. Just as a seed takes root and grows into a strong tree, the artwork reflects how loss can give rise to hope, strength, and a lasting legacy for future generations.


2. Carried Forward By Noah Ocran-Caesar

Carried Forward explores humanity's enduring relationship with the land, movement, and survival. Featuring a human figure within a canoe-inspired form, the sculpture connects the history of travel and harvesting with contemporary ideas of resilience, shared humanity, and our ongoing relationship with place.


3. Updraft By Nicholas Crombach

Updraft is a sculptural installation inspired by the monarch butterfly, a symbol of migration, transformation, and resilience. Reflecting Canada's diverse communities and East Gwillimbury's evolving identity, the artwork celebrates journeys, belonging, and our shared connection to the natural world.
