Background

International Repair Day takes place on Saturday 17th October 2026.

The Restart Project is making micro-grants available to allow community groups to do something special for International Repair Day. The event should be in line with this year's theme of "Repair brings us together". Groups are encouraged to plan Repair Festivals and these can be supported using the official Repair Day Toolkit.

Two micro grants - each worth £350 - are available to community repair groups in Scotland. The application process will be administered by Circular Communities Scotland.

Criteria
  • Events must run between the 10th and 25th of October 2026
  • Events must explicitly celebrate International Repair Day
  • Events should ideally bring together people who may not normally have much contact or who don't usually participate in repair events
  • Applicants must be members of Circular Communities Scotland
Grants could be used to plan a new event or to scale up an already-planned event.

The successful grant applicants agree to
  • distribute a short survey to event attendees/ participants (survey to be provided)
  • deliver a short post-event report which will consist of:
    • a paragraph describing the event
    • photographs of the event
    • details of the number of attendees/participants

Selection process

We expect a high number of equally valid applications.

To make the process simple and transparent, two groups will be chosen at random from all applications that fit the selection criteria and are received by the deadline of 11.59pm on Thursday 27th August.
