Introduction

ARC is conducting this survey on industrial virtual (VR) and augmented reality (AR) usage, strategies, and future directions.  Information will be kept confidential and only used in aggregate.

WHY SHOULD YOU PARTICIPATE IN THIS RESEARCH SURVEY?
The manner in which people organize and interact with technology must inevitably change.  ARC Advisory Group is observing the use of new products and new developments for industrial immersive technologies.  The survey results will be used to determine today's and tomorrow's strategies for this technology.

All respondents will receive an excerpt of the survey results and all survey participants and the companies at which they work will remain confidential.

Definitions used in Survey
Augmented reality (AR) is an view of a physical, real-world environment with elements that are augmented (or supplemented) by computer-generated sensory input or instructions that may include sound, video, graphics or GPS data. Virtual Reality (VR) is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment.  VR immerses users and allows them to interact with 3D worlds. Virtual reality replaces the real world with a simulated view of the real world and typically uses virtual reality headsets, images or glasses that generate realistic images, sounds and other sensations that replicate a real environment or create an imaginary setting. VR is "a realistic and immersive simulation of a three-dimensional 360-degree environment, created using interactive software and hardware, and experienced as an "immersive, interactive experience."   Our industrial clients have referred to virutal reality as a "digital twin."  Augmented reality adds context to virtual reality and is used to overlay information such as text, video, sound, graphics, GPS information, etc.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?
Participants should be involved in industrial product design, process design, maintenance, plant operations or other industrial operations and be familiar with VR/AR usage. We encourage participants to forward the survey link to appropriate individuals within their organizations.
