RRCA Waitlist |
Program Summary
The Renewables Ready Communities Award (RRCA) was a one-time State budget allocation of $30 million for local governments who permitted for and/or expect to host large renewable energy projects. This original amount has been fully allocated. However, the State of Michigan was awarded $129.1 million by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), of which $90.4 million is for a refresh of the RRCA. This additional funding is currently pending Michigan Legislative appropriation approval. In the meantime, this RRCA Waitlist is for eligible local governments to submit applications to reserve "spots in line" for the pending refresh of the RRCA. This application is a waitlist and does not constitute an actual application for the RRCA. EGLE will reach out to applicants on this waitlist when funding becomes available to submit a full application.
RRCA Eligibility Requirements
Any municipality which hosts or permitted for any portion of an eligible renewable energy project may apply. An eligible project is a grid-connected wind, solar, or energy storage project in Michigan which received a land use permit or approved site use plan on or after October 1, 2023. All projects must be at least 50 MW, unless any wind energy is involved, in which case, a project must be at least 100 MW. All capacity values refer to nameplate capacity in alternating current.
