Aruba has long recognized the need for an improvement in disaster risk management, and with funding obtained from the European Union (through RESEMBID) a project was launched to upgrade Aruba’s crisis response framework with modern technology and strategic planning. EWS is the Early Warning System that was implemented in March 2025 by the Crisis Management Office (CMO) of Aruba to enhance the warning system and public safety measures in the event of an emergency situation such as an approaching hurricane, tsunamis, earthquakes and other hazards. This included the installation of eight (8) sirens covering key areas of the island. By law only the CMO can initiate warnings and alerts for impending hazards threatening the population of Aruba. This survey is to measure awareness of the population regarding the warning system, response readiness, and satisfaction with the EWS.
