There have been many changes made to federal assistance programs this year. Federal assistance includes programs such as Medicaid, SNAP (food assistance), LIHEAP (home heating assistance) and Section 8 (housing assistance.)
With the ongoing government shutdown that began on October 1st, funding for many federal assistance programs is uncertain. Many states are not able to make up for the loss of federal funding, so benefits will potentially be put on hold. The MDDC is interested in hearing about the situations of Massachusetts residents to help us better educate and inform decision-makers on why these programs are important to people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families.
