North Collier Fire is an All Hazards Response Agency that protects a population of approximately 150,000 within 264 square miles of unincorporated areas in Collier County, Florida. The District operates out of ten fire stations strategically located and responds to more than 17,000 requests for service per year.
The District is established as an Independent Special District created by the State of Florida for the sole purpose of fire protection and rescue. This means that your tax dollars are used directly for these services. The governance of the District is provided by a Board of five Fire Commissioners: one elected from each of two service delivery areas – North Naples and Big Corkscrew and three elected at large.
Revenue sources for the District come primarily from ad valorem (property) taxes, grant funding, fees for service, interest distributions and property or access leases.
North Collier Fire employs 231 members who provide response for the following:
- Fire suppression for structures, vehicles and wildland
- Emergency medical services including advanced life support
- Vehicular accidents
- Technical rescue including confined space/structural collapse, high angle and trench rescue
- Hazmat/CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear Defense
- Dive and beach/marine rescue
- Natural gas and propane leaks and explosions
- Active shooter incidents
- Emergency management response and assistance during natural disasters
- USAR (Urban Search and Rescue)
- Fire inspections
- Building construction plan reviews for fire and safety compliance
The District also provides fire and life safety education including fire station tours, child car seat installations, fire engine demonstrations, fire extinguisher training, hurricane and disaster preparedness presentations and programs for reserve firefighters, junior firefighter-Explorers, juvenile fire setters intervention, senior fall prevention, holiday safety, school fire safety, poison prevention, Story Time with Firefighters reading, teen driving, drowning prevention, smoke alarm giveaways, driver/pedestrian, blood pressure checks, annual county booster seat campaign and Fire Safety Expo at Coastland Mall.
North Collier Fire is seeking to obtain status as an Internationally Accredited Fire Rescue Agency by the Center for Public Safety Excellence.
This accreditation program is a comprehensive self-assessment and evaluation model that enables fire and emergency service organizations to examine past, current and future service levels and performance and compares them to industry best practices. This process leads to improved service delivery by helping fire departments determine community risk and safety needs, evaluate the performance of the department, and establish a method to achieve continuous organizational improvement. This survey is an integral component to our accreditation process.
