California counties and many golf course owners and operators have taken different positions on whether their golf courses are to remain open during the current pandemic, and those who have elected to stay open are operating under very strict social distancing protocols and restrictive sanitary measures (e.g., eliminating golf carts or restricting to solo riders, turning cups upside down, removing bunker rakes, seed and sand dispensers, etc.).
The California Golf Course Owners Association (CGCOA) supports the right of course owners and operators to make the decision that is appropriate for their course(s), and has offered assistance in working with local health officials where that assistance is requested by the owner or operator.
