The Ada County Medical Society's Adopt-a-Resident program offers the opportunity to connect with an older physician who has been active in the medical community. Whether or not they have family in Idaho, we believe that being connected to seasoned physicians during residency has many merits. This includes feeling part of the “inner circle,” having an experienced physician to ask questions of, being introduced to organized medicine, being pointed to personal resources such as banker, insurance broker, realtor, etc. It is also a chance for resident spouses to begin building important supportive relationships in the community to thrive during the next three grueling years of being a "resident's widow(er)."

Our goal is to encourage the foster physician to reach out and suggest an activity together once a quarter, paid for by the older physician, starting with hosting dinner in their home. After that maybe a sporting event, a cultural event, recreation together, dinner, etc.
