This study is examining the role of coaching on athletic sports performance. You will receive questions related to your level of involvement in competitive sports, as well as the contribution of your coach's behaviour to your emotional well-being. Participants must be over 18 and can complete the survey in person or online. This questionnaire takes approximately 20 minutes to complete on Survey Monkey. This website offers information about Survey Monkey's privacy policies: https://www.surveymonkey.com/mp/legal/privacy/. Removal of stored data from Survey Monkey servers will begin after the study's completion. Participants could win one of five $20 Starbucks gift cards upon completing the survey. You must provide your email to be contacted by the researcher to participate in the incentive draw. The primary researcher is the only person with access to your email, which is kept confidential. The researcher will de-link the email you provide in your survey responses to protect your anonymity and delete it after recruitment once the incentive draw is complete. Your identification will not be in the final write-up of the study. You have the option to skip questions you would prefer not to answer and can withdraw from the study before submitting the survey to avoid inclusion in the research; however, once submitted, withdrawal is no longer an option. If you have any concerns about your treatment as a research participant in this study, you can contact the Vancouver Island University Research Ethics Board at reb@viu.ca. By answering yes, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the information above and agree to participate in the study and answer the questions as truthfully as possible, consenting to your survey responses being analyzed and published in an academic journal.
