Workshop registration

At this point, registration for the March 27 workshop in Roseville is closed. You can still register using this form, but the workshop will not be taking placed on March 27. We are determining an alternate date in late April or May. The April workshops in Grand Rapids and Mankato are tentatively slated to take place as planned, but we are paying close attention to state guidance and will notify registrants if that changes.

Whole Person Librarianship mines extensive, original research of on-the-ground practice to describe scalable approaches to library-social work collaboration, with the ultimate objective of improving library staff empathy and intercultural understanding, and providing tools for continuous improvement of public services to welcome all patrons into the library.

Join us in March or April for a day-long workshop where we’ll:
  • understand the basics of library-social work collaboration, including the three major types of scalable collaboration.
  • help participants articulate where they can start their own collaboration if they choose to do so.
  • describe social work concepts such as person-in-environment, cultural humility, and reflective practice, and begin to apply them to library service.
  • help participants apply at least one of the above concepts to an activity focused on their own work in a library setting.
  • experience local or other comparable examples of library-social work collaboration and/or potential community partners through local presenters.
While the primary audience of this workshop is library staff, social work students and field faculty are also welcome to register. In addition, staff from all library types are welcome, and library staff who directly assist public patrons are especially encouraged to attend.
