Esports is a a form of competition using video games. It often takes the form of organized, multiplayer competitions, particularly between professional players, individuals or teams.
Over the last few years, the world has seen a significant increase in esports participation. This interest has made its way into soccer as well, so much so, major leagues and organizations, such as Toronto FC and the English Premier League, have run competitions and signed players to play on the virtual pitch, alongside the physical one.
As part of Ontario Soccer's 2019 - 2021 Strategic Plan, our goal is to assist our Clubs, Academies and Districts in utilizing esports, specifically via the popular FIFA title, to better connect and engage with your current membership, as well as connecting with soccer fans in your communities, who may not currently be members.
The role of this survey will be to better understand your needs as an organization, and how we can develop strategies to help you better connect with your broader communities, and ensure soccer stays top of mind year round.
