In June 2017, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) expects to open a new Park and Ride in Cornelius near Exit 28. A prior survey assessing parking demand found that current customers who park at Northcross (Exit 25) were those most likely to switch to the new park and ride in Cornelius (Exit 28).  A restructuring of North County expresses (Routes 48X and 77X) is proposed to balance this shift in parking demand, while minimizing disruption to other customers.  Thank you for taking this ten-question survey to help CATS assess new service proposals.

Combined 48X and 77X Proposal

The existing 48X would be combined with the new 77X.  All inbound AM and outbound PM trips of the adjusted 77X would serve the Huntersville Gateway Park and Ride, instead of the Northcross Park and Ride (Exit 25).  The Huntersville Gateway Park and Ride (Exit 23) would become the last stop before continuing on Interstate 77 to Uptown Charlotte.

The 77X would remain the same north of Sam Furr Road (NC Highway 73), but then continue on Statesville Rd (US Highway 21) to the Huntersville Gateway Park and Ride (Exit 23).  Weekday peak service on the 77X to the Northcross Park and Ride would be replaced by the new 78X.  Midday trips (10am to 3pm) of the 77X would remain the same and continue to serve Northcross via Huntersville Gateway.  Reverse trips of the 77X would remain the same between Uptown Charlotte and the Town of Davidson.

New 48X Proposal

Weekday peak service at Northcross would be provided on the new 48X. This new route would start and end at the new Cornelius Park and Ride, which is west of Interstate 77 at Exit 28. The Northcross Park and Ride (Exit 25) would remain the last stop before continuing on Interstate 77 to Uptown Charlotte.
