This award is to be presented to the CLEAT local association that has distinguished itself from all others. This award is for the group that has done the most for its members, the most for its neighbors and the most for CLEAT.

* 3. Ludwig Bruno Award

Ludwig  Bruno was one of the founders of CLEAT, a board member of the Fort Worth Police Officers Association and designed the original CLEAT logo. Nominees are recognized for strong union leadership, CLEAT loyalty, and creativity.

* 4. Douglas Ward Award

Douglas Ward was the first CLEAT field representative, a former President of the Brownsville Police Officers Association and worked to bring in new members and organize existing associations into CLEAT. This award should be presented in honor of work accomplished on behalf of members and work in the field.

* 5. Ruben Cisneros Award

Ruben Cisneros was President of the Corpus Christi Police Officers Association. He also served as a CLEAT board member. He was disciplined 18 times for union organizing and CLEAT related activities. He once organized the garbage workers in Corpus Christi and as a CLEAT board member, he pushed hard for legal coverage for all members without a vote of the membership. This award is meant to honor a leader, someone with courage, conviction, and someone who goes beyond the call of duty to perform CLEAT’s mission.

* 6. Jerry Clancy Lifetime Achievement Award

This award should be given to honor an individual who has spent their career in the service of CLEAT and their local union. The recipient should exemplify CLEAT’s values and have at least a decade of verifiable service.

* 7. Political Grassroots Award

The Political grassroots awards are intended to honor those local unions who adhere to the CLEAT philosophy of using the local political process to gain rights and benefits for their local members. The number of awards will vary depending on the number of public battles, contract negotiations, campaigns and elections that we have during the year.

* 8. Jimmy Willborn Award for Leadership

Jimmy Willborn was a founder of CLEAT, President of the San Antonio Police Officers Association, and CLEAT Treasurer. Jimmy once used a personal line of credit to help CLEAT buy its first building. His favorite saying was, "I bleed CLEAT, you should too." This award is given to a proven CLEAT leader.

* 9. Sgt. Korby Kennedy President's Award

Sgt. Korby Kennedy was President of the San Angelo Coalition of Police. He was killed in the line of duty. He was a tireless CLEAT organizer. He negotiated several contracts, settled numerous grievances and helped establish meet and confer for his local association.

* 10. Brass Balls Award

This CLEAT award was first presented in 1981. It is an earthy attempt to honor those who go beyond the call of duty, stand taller than tall, and who stand up when everyone else sits down.
