Who: Emergency Medicine residents PGY level 2-4 during the July 2026 - June 2027 academic year who are current SAEM members

What: Resident Reviewer appointment to the Grants Committee

Term: May 2026-April 2027

Details: Resident Reviewers participate in the SAEMF grant review process and have the opportunity to participate in other SAEM Grants Committee meetings and objectives. Resident Reviewers are assigned a faculty mentor who will provide guidance, supervision, and assistance in evaluating and scoring grants. The Resident Reviewer program provides the opportunity for residents to better understand the components of a strong grant application and the grant review process. While prior research and/or prior grant review experience is not necessary to serve as a Resident Reviewer, applications will be reviewed for applicant interest in research, prior research experience and prior training.

Responsibilities:
(1) Complete grant review training provided by the SAEM Grants Committee.
(2) Read and score assigned grants with guidance from your Grants Committee faculty mentor.
(3) Participate in a virtual grant review session. The grant review session will be held Fall 2026 (date TBA).
(4) Participate in the Grants Committee monthly virtual meetings at your discretion. Please note, the Grants Committee will meet at SAEM26. Those who are selected to participate as a 2026-27 reviewer will be invited to the meeting that will take place at SAEM26, if they are attending the annual meeting (this is not required).
