Thank you for your interest in volunteering on the ABEA Board of Directors.  We are looking for board members for the board year of September 2019 – June 2020.  We currently have 3 spots available.

The ABEA exists to improve the quality of life through the promotion and support of Lifelong Learning.  We are partially funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) to support the adult literacy programs in Hamilton and act as the umbrella agency to those services.

We are a governance board which meets monthly from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, September to June.  The day of the meeting is determined by the newly elected board members at our Annual General Meeting.  The AGM is held at the Leaders in Literacy Breakfast each June.

The time commitment is not extensive but your skill sets are needed.  We are looking for people with a wide array of skills and expertise.  The full list is below.

An understanding of Governance and Charities is an asset.  Please note that members of the Literacy Community Planning (LCP) committee cannot be Board members due to potential conflict of interest due to funding and contract requirements.

For more information please contact Sara Gill, Executive Director.  Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
